Sources

[edit]

Some of the claims that keep getting added (like "His critics accuse him of partisanship and parochialism.") are unsourced and shouldn't be in this article until appropriate sources can be found. Moreover, "His critics accuse..." is not an appropriate way to start such a statement. Who accuses him of this? We must know this to put it in the article. Otherwise we are using weasel words. Until such sources as are necessary to back up these claims, I'm reverting to the previous version. Mistercow 21:48, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mr Oomen Chandy is well known of taking partisanship and anti-communism as a virtue.Particular instances are present all over in malayalam newspapers.Every Malayalee who takes care to watch the local politics will consider my addition as just.I am just not being able to find an online reference!

Unfortunately, that isn't sufficient on wikipedia. We have to have sources. Mistercow 05:15, 20 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"very recently"

[edit]
Very recently Mr.Chandy proved himself as one of the best politician who can also show diplomacy to other political leaders.Even the opposition in the state agrees that.

above statement deleted, being uninformative, confusing, and not very sensible. suggest citation of instance or source. --Pournami

Travancore as British India

[edit]

Is it a right usage, Travancore was more or less, an independent state which accepted British Hegemony, but can we use British India?? and hardly in other pages, of people born before 1947, british india is used?

if I am wrong, ready to correct and undo edit, pls contribute (Alex.mathews (talk) 05:05, 30 January 2013 (UTC))[reply]

Travancore was not part of British India. British India comprised of those regions which were ruled by the British Indian government (or their provincial counterparts) directly, like the Madras Presidency. The entity that Travancore was part of is called the Indian Empire, or the British Indian Empire, which consisted of British India and princely states like Travancore. --Joshua Issac (talk) 20:43, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Relocated Question

[edit]

In the article itself, in section Kochi Metro Rail Project, User talk:165.241.31.254 asked "Could you please update the status as on date ??". After reverting the article, I'm putting it here. Metadox (talk) 06:00, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@Jynevi: Accusations against Chandy's office were made in 2013. However, the article you just pasted into this bio reads like a news article written in 2013: is the opposition still trying to stall parliament? What was the long term effect on Chandy's career? Was Chandy ever charged with anything, or accused of anything in court? Were there any statements of innocence?

Please summarize the solar scam incident, weighting it according to the rest of the bio. We shouldn't have 2 identical articles in Wikipedia, which makes them harder to maintain and keep in sync, as well as harder to read.

Disputed neutrality in the section "Achievements during second term"

[edit]

The whole section seems to be like an advertisement of Oomen Chandy government. Important issues like the then Finance Minister's resignation due to corruption charges is entirely side-stepped. Solar scam is completely removed. The controversy of Salim Rajan, the Chief Minister's bodyguard who was involved in a land grabbing case is not mentioned.[1]

The statement "his 100 days programmes announced propelled the state fast forward." is given without attribution. Another sentence "They were impressed by the innovative approach to ensure transparency and accountability in Governance, particularly the to web-stream the entire functioning of CM’s office, which was turned off during supposed illegal activities. " is given without attribution. I would suggest that a section "criticism of Oomen Chandy" be added to balance the article. Vyttilavarkey (talk) 09:48, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Under Achievements, add that

Chandy increased transparency by installing a live webcam[1]

and change "Mass Contact Programme" to Mass Contact Programme.

In Early Life and Education, add that

The article is well sourced and has a lot of inline citations too. Its high time that the tag of "need more information to validate and for verification needs to be removed. (182.69.64.52 (talk) 14:18, 21 August 2023 (UTC))[reply]
