Western terminus slightly further west than given in description?
[edit]The route description says the highway begins in the west in Ardbeg at the crossing with the CN railway line. However, the ONGNIS map seems to show the western terminus slightly further west and north around a corner. Google Streetview imagery has a sign indicating the end of the highway at that same point too. Can anyone help clarify? --papageno (talk) 02:04, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- The 2016 AADT tables([1] show that the western leg is 25.3km long, which lines up almost perfectly with where the ENDS sign is. I'm not sure what to make of the extra 500 metres or so that the network GIS shows, but I'd chalk it up to a measurement error with the cartography (i.e. they drew a line 25.3 km from Highway 124 and it ended up there somehow). - Floydian τ ¢ 03:32, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Floydian: I think you accidentally misread my comment, but you've answered my question! The route text in the article says the highway begins at the railway crossing in Ardbeg. I pointed out the GIS and the Streetview sign seem to say it goes a bit further northwest. You've written that the AADT tables would seem to match that slightly further northwest routing. So, I will update the route text in the article to something like "Highway 520 begins in Ardbeg, and travels about 500 metres before reaching a flag stop crossing of the Canadian National Railway (CN) mainline. It heads east…". Does that make sense? --papageno (talk) 04:43, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- Looks good! Sorry, I didn't check the text in the article before digging into my sources and responding hehe. - Floydian τ ¢ 05:22, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Floydian: Thanks for your help. OK, I've made the change and related changes (to the Infobox and route table). Please refine anything that doesn't adhere to Ontario highway article conventions. I consider the matter resolved. Done --papageno (talk) 21:33, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
