Population
[edit]According to the provisional breakdown of the Nigerian census Onitsha has a population of 261.604. It has a population of 600.000, though, according to the Daily Sun, April 22, 2007, of one-million-odd according to Nigerian Monthly, June 2005, of more than 1.5 million people according to the Nigerian Tribune (Mon. 29th January 2007, not online), of about three million according to the Guardian, Tuesday, July 04, 2006 and of about 6 million according to the Anambra State government (in 2005). Everybody seems to feel free to make up an Onitsha of their own design with as many LGAs as they please. What are we to make of this? Ankimai 20:08, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- They said Lagos is what? 6 million? when in one church in Lagos there was 2 million attendees at once. People are saying there are 15 million in Lagos, so image how many in Onitsha, maybe even 20 million or more in Lagos! Ukabia...tark 19:32, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Alternative spellings
[edit]Blench and apparently some others have been known to use the spelling Ọnịca for this area/the dialect of Igbo used in it. It's not important enough to go in the article, but I'm making a note of it here so that people searching this site to find out what is meant by "Ọnịca" have at least a chance of finding this talk page and finding out.
