Tone

[edit]

I am removing the "tone" indicator. This article is at least as "encyclopedic" as the other Harrington book articles, and is at abou the same level as most articles about novels.

Agree with you, O, anonymous user. Debresser (talk) 13:09, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Plot

[edit]

"And none too soon, as the rival star nation of Haven, a bloated conqueror which has been slowly strangling on its own economic policies for over half a century, has set its eyes on the Star Kingdom. The plan Haven has evolved begins with a coup de main against Basilisk; whipping the low-tech native aliens into a killing frenzy that would sweep across the planet in a haze of blood, and provide the interstellar pretext Haven desires to swoop in and take control of the system before Manticore can respond. This would lead to a logical next step of invasion of Manticore through the two Junction termini Haven would then possess; Trevor’s Star and now Basilisk."

I was under the impression that the Havenites wanted to control the Basilisk system so as to prevent Manticoran interference with their invasion fleet heading towards Silesia, as explained in the Prologue. Where in the book does it say that capture of the Manticore system itself was Haven's ultimate goal? --Impaler30 15:45, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

This is an in-print book by a widely published author. I'm not arguing that the article on it isn't crap - currently, the article is, in fact, crap. However, that doesn't make the book less notable. I've added an inline reference and removed the the notability tag once again; notability is established in the first sentence, and the Baen Free Library link suffices for a reference as far as the facts in that first sentence go. All I've done is duplicate it as an inlne reference. Meanwhile, I urge anyone offended by my "crap" comment to look at the article impartially, and improve it to the point where I can't say that anymore - there's a reason I'm not contesting the other tags. I actually agree mostly with you, except for the notability tag. The article's subject probably is notable, but the article currently does not show it. I'm a big fan of Weber and quite appalled at the state of all these articles (with loads of articles on non-notable subjects). Most of this stuff belongs on the Honorverse Wiki, not on WP. --Crusio (talk) 22:27, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cover art, how DW perceived Harrington

[edit]

David Weber has stated http://infodump.thefifthimperium.com/entry/Harrington/12/0 that he views the Cover art from OBS as being most faithful to the image of Honor Harrington, but NOT that of Nimitz, her tree cat. I suggest _TWO_ covers being shown in the article: The current one (on the page now) _AND_ the old one, as seen at this link: http://img1.fantasticfiction.co.uk/images/n0/n4695.jpg LP-mn (talk) 15:24, 12 July 2010 (UTC) .[reply]
