Wikipedia is not a soapbox

[edit]

As per the guidelines in WP:NOTSOAPBOX, I have added an advert template tag to the article. The links contained in the section http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/GoMobo#GoMobo_Mobile_Services aren't encylopedic. The section should be rewritten or removed. If rewritten, it could provide a list of the clients, but only cite a page on GoMobo's own web site.

This is again repeated in the GoMobo Mobile Services section.

Proposal for Olo Article, March ‘23

[edit]

Hello, I’m an employee at Olo and I have some ideas for updates to this article. I understand that Wikipedia’s conflict of interest rules prevent me from directly editing the article, so would someone without a COI please review these proposals? Thanks in advance! 1. There’s a lot of missing detail in the History section, some of which is pretty important to understanding the company’s development. To help fix this, I suggest a new paragraph following the current third paragraph in the section (which begins with “Fortune reported in 2015 that…”):

In September 2015, Olo announced a new service called Dispatch, which allows restaurants to speed up the processing and delivery times for online food orders.[1]

Why this is worth adding: The new Dispatch service was a major development in Olo’s history and was covered by major business news services like CNBC.

Not done; the source says that Olo announced said thing, but the source actually doesn't say whether the claimed speed increase exists. --Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 20:35, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2. Also in the History section, please add the following new paragraph after the current fifth paragraph in the section (which begins “In 2017, Shake Shack launched…”):

In September 2017, Olo launched a service called Rails which helps restaurants to take orders placed on online marketplaces.[2] Amazon was one of the first customers to employ Rails,[2] along with Grubhub.

Why this is worth adding: the launch of Olo’s Rails service was a major milestone in the company’s history, as this service has been used by important companies in the restaurant space such as Grubhub, as well as by Amazon.

Not done; the source says that Rail's CEO says that Rails makes things easier (i.e., helps restaurants); the source authors do not say that. --Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 20:35, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

3. At present, the second-to-last paragraph in the current History section about Olo’s IPO in 2021 (which begins “Olo launched its IPO on…”) is unsourced and lacks detail. I’ve found a CNBC article that covered the company’s IPO, and suggest the following replacement sentence based on that source:

On March 17, 2021, Olo went public on the New York Stock Exchange and its IPO raised approximately $450 million.[3]

Why this is worth revising from the original sentence: important highlight in the company history; strong source.

4. Please add the following paragraph to the History section directly above the last paragraph in the section (which begins with “Starting in August 2022…”):

In October 2021, Olo announced its acquisition of Wisely, a customer intelligence platform that uses consumer data to personalize online ordering.[4]

Why this is worth adding: This was Olo’s first post-IPO acquisition and significantly upgraded Olo’s ability to manage consumer profiling.

5. Please add the following sentence to the end of the new paragraph in Item 4:

In February 2022, Olo launched a new service called Olo Pay which enables customers to make one-click online purchases from any restaurant in Olo’s network.[5]

Why this is worth adding: Important product launch for the company to improve its online payment platform.

6. Please add the following sentence to the end of the new paragraph in Item 4:

In February 2022, Olo acquired Omnivore, a company that developed technology services for restaurants such as enabling customers to keep open digital tabs while dining.[5]

Why this is worth adding: Major acquisition for Olo.

7. The second sentence in the last paragraph of the History section is entirely supported with press releases from law firms suing Olo.

I propose striking the current second sentence entirely:

This was followed by potential securities fraud, an investigation by Kaplan Fox,[6] and a class action lawsuit by Bernstein Liebhard LLP.[7][8]

And replacing it with:

Following the drop in Olo’s share price, several law firms filed what Restaurant Business described as “stock-drop suits”, a common type of lawsuit following a substantial drop in a public company’s share prices where lawyers for investors attempt to show that the company intentionally withheld information related to the price fall from its shareholders.[9][10]

Thanks very much for considering these suggestions. If I can be of any further help please let me know! Doglover19911119 (talk) 19:10, 15 March 2023 (UTC) Doglover19911119 (talk) 19:10, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
