[edit]It took me a while to find Old Forge in Wikipedia. It's sort of a landmark of northern New York, so I added this stub. I'm sure more people know of Old Forge than the Town of Webb, which is where I finally found it. I pretty much copied the information from there without fact-checking. I know it's cold there, but the temperature fact probably needs some qualification. Nonenmac 03:13, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit]I removed the Mountainman Outdoor Supply sentence from attractions, as it was both irrelevant (not an attraction) and blatantly commercial (Aug 5, 2017). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.5.191.11 (talk) 01:04, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
Village of Old Forge dissolution date
[edit]Although a listing on the New York State Department of State website mentions the Village of Old Forge being dissolved on October 21, 1933, it is a not quite accurate as some newspaper articles from the Boonville Herald in 1936 have the village actually going through the dissolution process during that year. In the issue published on February 14, 1935, an appeal was made in regards to a stay of dissolution in 1934 by the New York State Supreme Court, 5th District. The original vote by residents to dissolve the Village of Old Forge took place on October 21, 1933 which matches the date listed on the NYSDOS website. An article from the Ogdensburg Journal, dated April 1, 1936, mentions that a fire district commission appointed by the Town of Webb replaced the village board that day and the community ceased to be a village. Therefore, the Village of Old Forge officially dissolved on March 31, 1936. Mld74 (talk) 17:22, 17 March 2016 (UTC)Mld74

Late February meltdown left much of area with almost no snowpack and shut down winter sports, and had trees budding, even on hills and mountains.

Or both could be there, to show the difference. Currently the area is vastly above normal, and will challenge the all time record high February temperature this week, as happened last February. Compared to an average February low in the single digits, not a single day in the forecast has a low below 20. B137 (talk) 17:19, 17 February 2018 (UTC)
- Sure enough, they hit 62 on February 21st, when Western New York locations tied or broke their Feb records by breaking 70. B137 (talk) 13:48, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
