It has long been agreed that the treaty of 1262 should be called Gissurarsáttmáli and that the treaty of 1302 is the proper Gamli sáttmáli. The accuracy of the sagas has also long been questioned, although there are many kinds of sagas, and Íslendinga saga can readily be accepted as a contemporary source. So, what has Patricia Pires Boulhosa to offer in the way of new insights? Everything in this article has long been known.
