Redirect categorisation
[edit]The redirect Abdul Razak Ali Artan, which points to this article, is in Category:African Americans shot dead by law enforcement officers in the United States. At CfD recently there was a consensus to move some articles in that category to a new category, Category:African people shot dead by law enforcement officers in the United States. For categorisation purposes is Artan, who was born in Africa but became a legal permanent resident of the U.S., an African American, an African person, or both? – Arms & Hearts (talk) 16:49, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: No consensus. It is clear that these moves should be treated and discussed individually, rather than as a group, particularly when one of them has already seen consensus for the current name at a recent RM. — Amakuru (talk) 12:37, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
- Ohio State University attack → 2016 Ohio State University attack
- Ibar Highway assassination attempt → 1999 Ibar Highway assassination attempt
- Lyon synagogue attack → 2002 Lyon synagogue attack
- Glasgow Airport attack → 2007 Glasgow Airport attack
- Lakhimpur Kheri violence → 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence
– The naming convention in use for incidents (including terrorist attacks) is WP:NCEVENTS, which requires in the majority of cases
to indicate in the title when the incident happened. Adding the date would also make the title WP:CONSISTENT with the majority of other vehicle-ramming attacks. See this comprehensive list of vehicle-ramming attacks. Pilaz (talk) 22:17, 7 February 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. BD2412 T 07:00, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
- Support per nom, per WP:NCEVENTS etc. Paintspot Infez (talk) 23:47, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose for Lakhimpur Kheri violence. Neutral for others. These deserve to be taken on a case by case basis. This is a very notable event and only one of it kind. The qualifier year is unnecessary in this case. Moreover Talk:Lakhimpur_Kheri_violence#Requested_move_13_October_2021 had a consensus for the existing title. The proposed title is unnecessary. Venkat TL (talk) 06:04, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
- Consensus can change. Also, not explaining why or how it's unnecessary makes this whole argument an illustration of WP:UNNECESSARY. Pilaz (talk) 16:10, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
- Support Per nom, NCEVENTS applies in all cases. Captain Jack Sparrow (talk) 13:50, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose for all of those. This is a simply unnecessary move a these incidents were always the only such attack in their area. The resulting moves would provide no benefits whatsoever. Dunutubble (talk) 02:54, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
- I mean, one could easily argue that having some sort of indication in the title of WHAT YEAR these incidents occurred might be helpful — it's not like there's "NO benefits whatsoever". Paintspot Infez (talk) 22:57, 5 March 2022 (UTC)

Ohio State University attack → 2016 Ohio State University attack – The date should be included in the title according to the naming convention WP:NCE, as it's a useful indicator to the reader and would make it consistent with the majority of articles under List of vehicle-ramming attacks. The exception NOYEAR doesn't seem too pertinent here, as most of the coverage for this event hasn't gone beyond the time period it happened in, which suggests that the historical perspective
required to make an exception under NOYEAR isn't quite met. Pilaz (talk) 09:42, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Support per nom, less ambiguous is always good... - Adolphus79 (talk) 14:54, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Strong Support the year of the attack makes it a better and more descriptive title
- 173.72.3.91 (talk) 17:26, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Just my two cents—I think we should rename it "2016 Ohio State University terrorist attack". Just calling it an "attack" seems a little bit ambiguous from the title alone.
- Gabetucker2 (talk) 22:46, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Strong Support. Adding the year definitely clarifies the event and helps distinguish it from other incidents. Waqar💬 19:11, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
