Request Edits to Reflect Name Change of School

[edit]

Hello, I'd like to propose changes based on OIPT's acquisition by Kaplan College in 2010 and recent acquisition by Education Corporation of America (ECA) in Septebmer 2015. OIPT has recently been renamed Brightwood College; all changes and references are cited in the revised article below. I currently work for ECA and was formerly (before the acquisition) an employee of Kaplan.

I have tried to keep the edits as minimal and factual as possible:

  • Removed old, incorrect website and image
  • Corrected the physical address and local number
  • Paragraph 1 - Removed "current" from "current main building" as the campus relocated in 2010
  • Paragraph 2 - No edits
  • Added new paragraph about renaming to Kaplan College (with source)
  • Removed programs of study no longer offered; added Trades (source: www.brightwood.edu/dayton-oh/programs/)
  • Updated accreditation (with source)
  • Changed "see also" to Kaplan College

The Ohio Institute of Photography (OIP) was founded in 1971. In 1977, construction began on the main building. Classes began in the new building, designed specifically for photographic education, the following September. The building was expanded again in 1984.

The school was renamed the Ohio Institute of Photography and Technology (OIP&T) in 1991 with the addition of an allied health program. Several other medical, criminal justice, and graphic design related programs were added to the curriculum over the next several years. With the addition of these programs, the school added classroom space in the nearby Point West Business Park. A branch campus called Florida Education Center-Lauderhill was opened in January 2005.

OIP&T was acquired by Kaplan Higher Education and renamed Kaplan College, Dayton campus in 2010.[1]

The school is currently owned by Education Corporation of America and changed its name to Brightwood College in October 2015.[2]

Changes have already been made. Although there is some confusion now as Brightwood College exists, and this is more of a history article. Maybe merge? Aloneinthewild (talk) 10:51, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
