Industry pioneers

[edit]

Rationale for my removal of Red Adiar's name from the opening paragraph of this Wiki page: Although Red Adair indeed was recognized as an "Industry Pioneer" in the Ocean Star's first year of doing such <http://www.oceanstaroec.com/fame/1998/1998ind.htm>, and even has his own Wiki page <http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Red_Adair>, imho his contributions to the OFFSHORE drilling industry do not rank with those of the other pioneers honored in 1998. It could be argued that, for example, Bruce Collipp, R.G. Le Tourneau, and Jerome Goldman (among others also honored that first year) pioneered more in the type of offshore drilling technology as explained by the Ocean Star as a museum. The ideal solution to the dilemma of whom to mention on this Wiki page would be to make a chart listing ALL honorees. The names are listed on the Ocean Star's website, and I'll put them up on this Wiki site when I get around to it -- unless somebody else does it first. Irv (talk) 16:24, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rig mat

[edit]

Clarifying my earlier statement about the mat (when changing "anchored" to "set up") on the history page: I've learned that it had been removed before the upper hull was jacked up. Irv (talk) 06:36, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
