Peer Editing Notes
[edit]Wow, there are a lot of parts to your policy! Definitely nice that you named the highest priority focus areas early in your article to help focus the reader. I could not find much to edit (just inserted an “is”), and it’s a great article about a many-faceted problem. I would never see anything at all deficient as an ordinary reader, but tried hard to think of something to contribute, so here goes. Seems like a lot of the goals would compete for limited resources. Did you come across any current stories about winning and losing causes in that type of situation? If so that might be interesting to hear.
Hey Sarah and Amy, thanks for providing feedback on our article. We've incorporated all of your suggestions except for the photos. I'm struggling to find photos that aren't copyrighted. As far as your article is concerned, I've really enjoyed reading about the master plan for this area. Doug is right about multiple stakeholders competing for limited resources, yet it is a public spot and should cater to all parties (I'm glad I'm not involved). I worry that your article has been flagged for deletion and I'd hate to see all of the work you've done just disappear. My only suggestion is to integrate it into the Ocean Beach article. Doing this would hopefully safeguard your research on this topic. This is a valuable information for any public policy course. Ckgurney (talk) 18:47, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Responding to proposed deletion
[edit]The article has been nominated for deletion, and it is necessary to address shortcomings in the article within the next week to prevent it from being deleted. The article desperately needs a good strong lead section that explains why planning for the future of Ocean Beach is notable in Wikipedia terms. The article needs additional references based on reliable sources that are independent of the planning process, but describe it and its importance in depth. I have added one source from Bay Citizen. The article needs to be stripped of jargon and acronyms, and made readable and accessible to those who know little or nothing about Ocean Beach. It needs images, readily available on Wikimedia Commons, that show the sweep and beauty of the beach. The article needs to emphasize Ocean Beach as a critical component of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and discuss the urban/wildland interface issues involved. These are just my suggestions, but I do want to say that quick action needs to be taken to save this article from deletion. Cullen328 (talk) 04:06, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
- Perhaps, this article should be merged with Ocean Beach, San Francisco, California because it would feel redundant to describe this beach in detail when it is already done there. Scfavrot (talk) 04:16, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- I don't think so. The beach doesn't need to be described in as much detail in this article as in the main article. What it needs is a summary of the character and significance of the beach, so as to indicate to a reader why the planning process regarding this beach is notable and worthy of an encyclopedia article. What is special about this particular beach? What are the challenges it faces? Why is the current planning process so significant and so challenging? What do reliable sources say about the planning process? A reader should not have to read deep into the article to ferret out this information. It needs to be summarized coherently in the lead section of the article. Cullen328 (talk) 05:05, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
