[edit]Why is the phrase " boast" used in connectionn with the town's ethnic diversity? It is neither a good nor a bad thing, and to go either way is not a fact but an opinion, and that must be made clear. (Unsigned comment by User:82.3.50.60)
- Yup, i agree, i've changed it. In future, be bold and do it yourself! :) Twrist 20:21, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
I don't believe that 97% of the population of Oadby identified themselves as Hindu or Moslem. That leaves only 3% as atheists, Christians, Jews and whatever else.
Maybe you mean 97% of those disclosing their religion were Hindu or Moslem - but even that's doubtful. Can this figure be verified somehow? 86.17.119.153 16:18, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
I also think that the percentage number for Muslim cannot be right. According to census data at http://neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk/, the percentages for Oadby and Wigston (local authority) are:
- 64.76% Christian
- 5.98% Hindu
- 2.78% Muslim
- 4.16% Sikh
- 14.68% No religion
- 6.93% Religion not stated
Checking percentage numbers for different wards in Oadby (Brocks Hill, Woodland, etc.) gives slightly higher numbers for Muslim and significantly higher numbers for Hindu (e.g. the Woodland ward has 16.22% Hindu, 3.8% Muslim, 7.17% Sikh), but it is nowhere near 86% Muslim. Maybe the correct number for Oadby is 8.6% Muslim? There does not seem to be an easy way to get exact percentages for the whole of Oadby (without inclusion of Wigston) directly from the census website, one would have to get the data for all the wards and do the calculation manually. 143.210.72.129 15:45, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
I have now aggregated the ward figures from the census and altered the relevant section. Is there any reason to pick out religion and not include other census categories. Is there any policy on this? Spathaky (talk) 11:49, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
In the history of the page I saw now that the number was 6% Muslim originally and was changed to 86% Muslim in an anonymous edit on August 9, 2007. I have now changed it back to 6%, as this number appears more plausible (although I could not find an authoritative source to confirm it). 143.210.72.129 16:01, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Effort to improve Manor High School article
[edit]Manor High is the largest Middle school in England and so one of the few middle schools which has an inherent notability. It's a shame, therefore, to see that the article is still just a stub. I will do what I can to flesh out some detail, but it would be great if someone with local knowledge and access to local resources were able to add something to it. University of Leicester Oadby Student Village
[edit]This section reads like a prospectus and seems over-enthusiastic about the Student Village. In fact it is copied word-for-word from the University web site which it cites. I suggest someone with better knowledge than I have might rewrite it from a NPOV. Mike Spathaky (talk) 06:23, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

OWSC - Oadby and Wigston Swimming Club
[edit]This reads like an advert. Please edit substantially sticking to the bare facts. To be honest there are dozens of Oadby organisations that could be included, but maybe should not be. Mike Spathaky (talk) 09:01, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
