[edit]The article begins by saying that ONCE "is a Spanish national charity lottery". While ONCE is certainly most strongly associated with the lottery, is that the extent of their operations or are they first and foremost a charity for the blind whose lottery has come to dominate their activities and public profile? The article seems to suggest that ONCE was founded as a lottery and has been that way from its inception, so I suppose the answer would be no, but it seems a bit odd that something called the Organización Nacional de Ciegos Españoles is just a lottery and not a charity that happens to run a lottery. Perhaps the article needs a bit more on ONCE's work with the blind, or are they simply a lottery operator who have a historical connection with blind charitable activities? — Trilobite 19:50, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
article in general and fiddly bits
[edit]Am currently in the process of tidying up this article and have made some minor and major changes. In consultation with senior managers at ONCE, am substituting the English word "coupon", which should be translated as "lottery ticket" for the Spanish original cupón as it is indeed a unique product. Please bear with me if the required changes are slow in appearing. 83.191.84.126 17:09, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
cycling team
[edit]Have eliminated the following text as it bears no relationship to the ONCE: In 2004, the team continued with new sponsorship under Manolo Saiz's leadership as the Liberty Seguros-Würth team. In 2006, Liberty Seguros withdrew its sponsorship after the team's directeur sportif and many of its riders were linked to a major doping scheme. The team picked up sponsorship from a group of Kazakhstan businessmen and became Team Astana-Würth; after the team was barred from the 2006 Tour de France due to the doping case, Würth pulled its sponsorship. The team now continues as Astana Team.83.191.57.213 17:47, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Oncelogo new.gif
[edit]Image:Oncelogo new.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Deleted text
[edit]Have deleted an unreferenced paragraph referring to supposed origins of the ONCE, but not of the institution as such, and of the person mentioned. The rest of the article makes a specific point of not mentioning individual figures (current or past presidents, etc.) and there is therefore no need to mention a non-notable (and unsourced) person in this context. The deleted paragraph is the following:
Luis del Rosal Caro established in 1928 (Society of Aid and Defense of blind person) in Cadiz, that later extended to Jerez de la Frontera, in 1938 in the rest of Andalusia and 1942 by decree in all Spain; and under their direction the first Regulations are written up that of National Organization of the Spanish Blind “ONCE”.
Will likewise delete, and post here, the image of said person. Technopat (talk) 07:46, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Regards,

Deleted text and image
[edit]Have again deleted the above. The reference - if notable - should be included in the appropriate place in the article, such as its origins, along with other relevant references to the Sindicat de Cecs de Catalunya and La Hispalense, etc. The fact that associations for the blind existed before the ONCE does not necessarily imply they were fundamental to the setting up of the ONCE. Nor does the supposed founder - not of the ONCE, but of a supposed forerunner - deserve a prominent place in a Wikipedia article on the ONCE. --Technopat (talk) 07:28, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- Have again deleted the same text and the same photo for exactly the same reasons already explained on several occasions on this talk page. The article deals with the ONCE, an organization established by decree on December 13, 1938. Mention is made in the article of other, local organisations in existence before that date, the work of which was probably instrumental to the ONCE coming into being. But the person in question is not recognised by the ONCE as having been instrumental to the setting up of the organization, however much the unregistered editor, in all good faith, insists. The only possible solution I see is to set up a subsection on "Events leading up to the creation of the ONCE" in which we can also include Genesis and other documented sources not considered relevant by the ONCE itself. --Technopat (talk) 13:45, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
