Etymology of Nyack?

[edit]

Would the etymology of Nyack be an appropriate addition to this article?

I found this book with a section on Indian Geographical names where they mention Nyack meaning: "land or place at the angle, point or corner" https://www.google.com/books/edition/Proceedings/Ni8LAQAAMAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=Lenape+population+Nyack+Tract&pg=RA2-PA121&printsec=frontcover Wil540 art (talk) 21:00, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly, although I already alluded to it Nyack Tract#Context. And yes, it's the exact same etymology as Nyack, New York in Rockland County. Pharos (talk) 02:02, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Modern Map

[edit]

Added a map to show the general area of the Nyack Tract within Brooklyn. Comments welcome. DutchTreat (talk) 13:28, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
