Confusing sentence

I'm not sure whether this part of the sentence serves some function: "located deep within the cerebral hemispheres and brainstem". Nuclei only inside white matter in brain?

Are nuclei always contained entirely within white matter, or can they be separate structures outside white matter?UnderEducatedGeezer (talk) 22:21, 6 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty much by definition, nuclei are grey matter. It's certainly possible to have two nuclei adjacent to one another, with little or no white matter in between. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:11, 6 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
