[edit]Who decided on the pronunciation of numt? If you are going to coin a new word for an object then I don't think you should deliberately make it impossible to pronounce without prior knowledge. If you insist that the letters stand for something then you can use an acronym.
Yes, there should be at least a citation which verifies this "new might" pronounciation, it seems arbitrary to me. If no source verifies it, it should be deleted.
It was actually spelled out in the first Numt article by Lopez et al (1994)J. Mol Evol 39, on page 176: "Numt, pronounced "new might". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jochrome (talk • contribs) 04:16, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
