Advertising: In the late 1940's, Northeast Airlines used an advertising jingle on Boston radio stations.
"Take your trip in a Yankee ship, Aloft in the blue today,
[ missing words ] in a Yankee ship,
For comfort all the way.
No finer ship, no finer crew,
[ missing line ] [ missing line ]
Take your trip in a Yankee ship."
Information Technology: In 1968 Northeast Airlines installed dual IBM 360 model 65s in a data center in Andover, Massachusetts. The data center also housed keypunch operators, a turbine-powered generator, tape drives, and four banks of 9-unit 2314 disk storage systems. Northeast implemented IBM's Programmed Airlines Reservation System (PARS), which also contained a message switching system for Northeast's teletype network. PARS was able to accept reservations a year in advance, and included an overbooking feature. It was more advanced than the contemporary SABRE system because it maintained individual passenger name records. [1] Viejo41 (talk) 12:17, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
