I recall the "State University" designation being something of a rub with ranking alumni. The GA Board of Regents attempted to rename the college, "North Georgia State University." The "SU" suffix only becoming something of a formality, if not compromise with the Board of Regents. Anyone think this should be added to the article? (Javafueled)

Yes. I used to live in NC, in the county that bordered both SC and GA. I was therefore aware of the "college & state university" nomenclature. This is the first time I've been aware of why it came about. I've always hated it. Especially seeing as there's a Georgia State and a Georgia College and State. Living in NC, I never became aware of the local way of shortening that mess of a name. --Coryma 21:13, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are famous graduates worthy, e.g. Shawn Mullins, of mention or linking? (Javafueled)
