Area code 619
[edit]"and older phones may still be assigned to 619." -- is this even possible? Why would certain "older" phone numbers not have been changed to 760? It's not an overlay, where previously established phone numbers kept their old area code. All phone numbers would have become 760. -70.181.204.223 20:56, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Merger proposal
[edit]I'm opposed. -Branddobbe (talk) 07:01, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
- This article contains only the information that can be moved into San Diego County, California article. --Mgillfr (talk) 18:01, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
- That's grounds for expansion, not merging. North County is distinct enough to warrant its own article. -Branddobbe (talk) 03:36, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- It fits perfectly in the History section, where it talks a brief statement of North County. Though the south part of the county in the other article could use an expansion. --Mgillfr (talk) 19:06, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Firm oppose. It even has its own newspaper: www.nctimes.com . I think an area of about half a million people deserves its own article. --Rschen7754 (T C) 19:28, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
Opposed. As someone who grew up in the North County at the time it gained a distinct identity, it is a region of a very large county substantively different in character from the South County. I do take exceptions to the characterizations of the area as being particularly wealthy, particularly in contrast to Orange County to the immediate north, but I guess I can see it. There are an awful lot of residents of eastern Oceanside, Vista, and Escondido who are far from affluent, though.Ray Trygstad (talk) 21:43, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
Title
[edit]Why is this page title "San Diego North County, California?" This is not what it is called. It is just North County, which redirects to this page. If there ever arises an ambiguity with another North County, then should it not be called "North County (California region)" or something per the usual method of clarifying titles? - I agree. Never having changed an article's title before, can anyone tell me if you just do it, or is there a process for making sure that everything that currently links to this article will still do so after the name change?Dohn joe (talk) 23:29, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
- The new title works, except for the comma. No one ever uses a comma there. Ever. -Branddobbe (talk) 21:57, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed with Branddobbe, I think. The title reads as if North County is a district or neighborhood of the City of San Diego. I don't know all stylistic norms, but I would think "North County (San Diego)" might be more appropriate. What would an editor think? YellowAries2010 (talk) 22:48, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

- Too right you are. Page moved to North County (San Diego area), though I really think this should just be renamed North County as that page already redirects here. --SchutteGod (talk) 16:32, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
