The Edge

What does this mean: " . . drives him to the edge of sanity (emphasis added), of humanity." ? Does it mean he is driven toward sanity and humanity or away from them? I find the usage baffling. The usual expression is "to the brink (or edge) of insanity." Orthotox (talk) 05:18, 18 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
