Cleanup
[edit]Noor Jehan needs a NPOV work-out I think - the language is too laudatory and informal, with too many artistic and emotional assessments. The whole thing needs a good edit.--Eine 23:08, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
--- GROSSER - unclear. "proved to be grosser at the box" One sense of gross is to take in money - the movie grossed $20 million in the first week. One sense is disgusting - Dont pick your nose. That is gross. MartinGugino 01:32, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
She was born in 'Sindh' not 'Sind'. 'kay?
Best Singer undoubtly in the world!!
Useful link
[edit]http://freespace.virgin.net/jamal.akbar/noorbiog1.htm
This link has a lot of info on Noor Jehan and can be used to cite various things. I will try to find more sources before I do edit this article as I think it is a lot for one person's plate for starters. SholeemGriffin (talk) 23:14, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
When was Jehan born?
[edit]Seriously, when was she born and I think we need a proper discography to work out when she was actually born. If possible actually watch the movie she is said to be in 1930 according to this article just to check out how old she was in 1930. If she was like not an infant then surely she wasn't born in 1929 as the article earlier said. I have kind of subtly added the fact that there is confusion over her date of birth to the article but find that due to total lack of citations in the article I may be deleting things which are true.SholeemGriffin (talk) 00:11, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Trivia Section
[edit]I am thinking of chunking the section as its also random and not at all organised. I suggest that we salvage the information from it add it to the relevant section within the article and then deleted that section totally. After that I suggest that we should find resources supporting the assertions made in the article. SholeemGriffin (talk) 21:00, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- Don't chuck it away. Instead, use the information given in the section in the history section to create genuine information. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 21:39, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Tables
[edit]Can some one arrange the filmography by years.I don't really know how to do tables, so till I figure it out, can someone please do that. SholeemGriffin (talk) 23:34, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Did Noor Jehan make films in India after Partition?
[edit]The article says that Noor Jehan moved to Pakistan after the Partition of British India. However, she is in the film "Anarkali" made in 1958 in India. Did she come back to India for that? Did she make any other films in India? There needs to be some clear explanation of this in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Asbhagwat (talk • contribs) 00:19, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
The 1958 Anarkali was made in Pakistan. The Indian film starring Bina Rai was made in 1953. Nurjehan did not act in any films in India after Jugnu [1947]. Kanchanamala (talk) 20:04, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Nurjehan: Date of Birth and Filmography
[edit]Was she born in 1926 or in 1929?
As Baby Nurjehan was she 11 or 8 years old? When she debuted in a lead role in Hindi films with Khandan [1942], was she 16 or 13 years old? In Jugnu [1947] was she 21 or 18 years old? In Anarkali [1958] was she 32 or 29 years old? Was she of the same age as, or 3 years older than, Lata Mangeshkar?
Filmography:
Nurjehan is mentioned in the credits as Baby Nurjehan in 3 films made in Calcutta in 1937. Her career in films may be reckoned from thereon. She moved to Lahore and acted in 4 Panjabi films and 1 Hindi film. She then moved to Bombay and flourished from 1943 to 1947 when she went to Pakistan.
There already was another Nurjehan working in Bombay before our actress moved in. She worked in 29 films between 1932 and 1942. She is not credited with any film between 1943 and 1947. She did resurface in 1948 with a minor role in Mela.
A Noorjehan acted in 8 films in Bombay between 1933 and 1947: Patit Pawan [1933] (mythological), Tope Ka Gola [1936] (social), Red Signal [1941] (stunt), Sasural [1941] (social), Chandni [1942] (social), Jadugar [1946] (fantasy), Maharana Pratap [1946] (historical), and Abidah [1947] (social).
A Noor Jahan acted in 1 film in Bombay Karwane Husn [1935] (costume).
A Noor Jehan acted in 1 film in Bombay Duhai [1943] (social).
Nurjehan: Fakhre Islam [1937], Mr. 420 [1937], Taranhar [1937], Heer Syal [1938], Gul-e-Bakavali [1938], Sassi Punnu [1938], Yamla Jat [1940], Khandan [1942], Nadan[1943], Naukar [1943], Dost [1944], Lal Haveli [1944], Badi Maa [1945], Bhaijan [1945], Gaon Ki Gori [1945], Zeenat [1945], Anmol Ghadi [1946], Dil [1946], Hamjoli [1946], Jugnu [1947], and Mirza Sahiban [1947].

Requested move

The result of the proposal was no consensus. --BDD (talk) 00:03, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
Noor Jehan → Noor Jahan – I propose we move this actress' article to the correct spelling of her name, Noor Jahan, overwriting the current disambiguation page, then updating the hatnotes on this and the empress' article. --Relisted. — Amakuru (talk) 10:48, 16 December 2013 (UTC) Geniac (talk) 17:32, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
- Weak oppose - Without a reference for the 'correctness' of the spelling 'Jahan', there is no reason to go ahead with this move. Whatever is the most common spelling, she may well have had her own preference for how she wrote her name in Latin script; if this can be established it should be followed. Imc (talk) 21:42, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I saw two refs right by her name, which is spelled Noor Jahan in the lead. They're both offline sources, which I don't have, so I was assuming they were for confirming the correctness of her name. --Geniac (talk) 02:16, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Noor Jehan
[edit]I wasn't born when she acted in India before the partition of India in 1947 and her migration to newly created Pakistan. She stared opposite Dilip Kumar in the movie named Jugnoo. In that movie she acted and also sang the songs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.100.153.111 (talk) 20:56, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
