Possible edits
[edit]I was planning on adding some content to this article. Here is an outline of what I was hoping to do:
- I want to add a number of different roles nociceptin has been found to have in biological processes. This includes creating new subsections in the "Roles of Nociceptin" section. These other roles include nociceptin's roles in learning and memory, cocaine addiction, and therapy. These additions may help to update the article with the current knowledge regarding nociceptin.
- Additionally, I want to add a greater look into the history of how nociceptin was discovered. I plan to either incorporate this into the introductory paragraph or create an entirely new section outlining nociceptin's history. This can include information about the experiments going into discovering nociceptin as well as its comparison to other compounds in similar pathways.
- In a similar vein, I want to organize the introductory paragraph so that it can be read in a more logical manner. Right now, the information jumps around rapidly from one subject to the next. It may be beneficial to create a number of sections out of the introduction. For example, I would include a "Structure" section that will introduce the chemical organization of the pathway as well as how it is similar to other pathways. Additionally, I could add a function pathway, where I can expand upon the minimal information currently in the introduction about what nociceptin actually does.
- I would also like to include more hyperlinks throughout the article. Some topics such as the nociceptin receptor have their own Wikipedia pages, but are not linked in this article.
- For some of the terms that do not have a Wikipedia article devoted to them, I could expand upon them within the nociceptin article itself so that the article is more comprehensible to a wider audience. A number of terms (such as endogenous, anxiolytic) are not defined and might be difficult for some readers.
- I may also add an image of the NOP receptor pathway. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pjdas1012 (talk • contribs) 22:19, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
