Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Noah Wardrip-Fruin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. I'm doing a biography of him for a project. Here's his website: http://www.noahwf.com/

I'm trying to equate him to new media.

Does anyone know some of Noah Wardrup-Fruin's life?

any help with finding birthdays etc. would be greatly appreciated, may resort to simply emailing him as google yielded no immediate results. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xmarkmanx (talkcontribs) 09:06, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sadly this reads like it was written by one of Noah's fanboys. It really needs some meat added to it, and the tone needs to be more neutral. His impact clearly needs to be defined, since at this point he is a mid-rank professor with a low h-index. So if he is notable it should be through the impact of some of his work, like his books, if they are considered impactful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:9:2700:16C:8948:3D01:5C1A:4572 (talk) 15:19, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

status and advice

[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I declined to delete the article. He probably does meet WP:PROF, the relevant standard, based on 4 major publication from a leading publisher in the field, MIT Press, thus showing him an authority. The problem isnt bio details., but showing his works are important, This is best done by simply finding reviews of them--any librarian can help with this. Please see our guide to writing Wikipedia articles. DGG ( talk ) 15:47, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vagueness in Intro

[edit]

It appears that much of the information in your introductory statement is not warranted with links. Also, I noticed that when discussing Wardrip-Fruin's "...M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Brown," you do not specify what exactly "Brown" is. Although many can quickly recognize that you are referring to Brown University I feel that it's best for those unfamiliar with the university for you to write the full name supported by a link. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RazorXX8 (talkcontribs) 00:34, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Candidacy for deletion

[edit]

I really don't think deletion is necessary or fair, this is a writer, artist, and media creator of great interest in the world of New Media and his legacy should be preserved. I suppose it isn't my call, but still. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xmarkmanx (talkcontribs) 11:15, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Prof. Noah edited the most important book about New Media, The New Media Reader (MIT Press). He is a reference for all digital media scholars. Paulsullivan1999 (talk) 07:53, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
