From reference #5 (Japan Times article): "Bono confessed that he loved Sugimoto's seascape photographs and began quizzing the artist about the work. "He started taking notes as I talked," Sugimoto recalled. Those notes became the foundation for the new album's title track." From reference #2 (National Post article): "Bono had this idea - where the sea meets the sky and you can't tell the difference between the two." Direct quote. I'd say that the references certainly support that, so I hope you don't mind me reverting that pretty senseless sticking of a fact tag in the middle of the sentences.
