ALG B-80 vs Volkel

[edit]

@Gavbadger Thanks for the 'improvement' to the Tempest image caption, but I feel there is more work needed for it to truly be an improvement. The original link was to [[Advanced landing ground|ALG B-80 / Volkel]] which takes you to Advanced landing ground reflecting the status of that airfield at that specific time (1944). From there, readers will find the link to [[B-80 Volkel]], and hence Volkel Air Base, which of course is primarily focussed on its current status, hence the F-16 lede image etc.

Although the Volkel AB article briefly mentions the arrival of the "British Royal Air Force" [sic] and Hawker Typhoons and Tempests, it doesn't add much, but more significantly, nowhere in the Volkel AB article does it mention ALG or B-80 or Advanced Landing Ground. Hence the new link takes us directly from 1944 RAF Tempest straight to 2024 Klu Air Base, without passing 'Go', and without collecting £200. I believe we should have the intermediate stage. People starting off with the Tempest image are not necessarily interested in Klu 312 Squadron and Nuclear Weapons.

One solution could be to add some text regarding ALG B-80 to the Volkel article. The other is to revert the caption to what it was before.

p.s. I really would value some input regarding the text presentation in the caption. To me it looks as if the "ALG" follows the preceding "at" without a space, and yet that is clearly not the case. I have tried forcing a double-space gap, and failed. Do you have any thoughts? Or is it just my tired eyes?
