Infobox image
[edit]The original image used in the infobox can be found at the Australian War Memorial Collections Database site where the aircraft is described as a Mk.V and the photo was taken in 1944; however, their own text on the history of the squadron clearly states that it upgraded to Mk.IIIs in 1944. Maybe someone can resolve this apparent anomaly, or perhaps the squadron operated both types!? --Red Sunset 18:31, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- The squadron operated both types, but had Mk.IIIs coming since August 1942, receiving their first Mk.Vs in February 1945, so the picture cannot be taken in 1944. In 1945 the squadron is also supposed to show the full UT code. But the large tailfin clearly makes it a Mk.V????Dirk P Broer (talk) 01:22, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- The longer I look at this picture, the more convinced I am that this is a Sunderland shot in the SEAC theater of war, look at that roundel...Dirk P Broer (talk) 22:33, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
