Foreign Flights
[edit]Ian, if the first RAAF flight to Russia is worth mentioning, so then is the first RAAF flight to China preceding it.Lexysexy (talk) 07:34, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
- I'd say yes, but unfortunately I didn't see any mention of it in my sources -- do you have a ref? I saw your edit re. 33FLT; one of my sources stated it was under 37SQN but a couple of others make no mention of it so I won't argue about it -- I guess it would be interesting having two WGCDRs in the same squadron... ;-) Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 07:46, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
- To be fair, I need to add "since the revolution", because, of course. 38 SQN went there in 1946. The dates were: 4-6 Aug 1982, PM Fraser to Beijing, A20-627, but my source is unpublished <g>. I'll see whether I can find a reputable newspaper report.Lexysexy (talk) 09:27, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Happy to review this ★★RetroLord★★ 13:56, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- Tks for reviewing! Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 15:14, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
A few points:
- Why does the articles infobox only mention the A330? Has the squadron ever flown other aircraft in the past? ★★RetroLord★★ 14:14, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, but I generally prefer to leave discussion of previous aircraft in the text as mentioning types in the infobox may give the impression it's an exhaustive list, and that's rarely possible to confirm as different sources can give contradictory information, not simply on exactly when the unit operated the types, but the types themselves. Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 15:14, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- Who is the commander of the squadron? ★★RetroLord★★ 14:14, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- I don't know -- the RAAF website rarely provides this information regarding its units. Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 15:14, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- How many people are currently assigned to this squadron? ★★RetroLord★★ 14:14, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- Ditto. Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 15:14, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, ★★RetroLord★★ 14:14, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
Not really sure what more I can do in this review, the article seems perfectly OK. I expect i'll pass it over the coming days provided nothing else jumps out at me. Thanks, ★★RetroLord★★ 19:29, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Ongoing Nitpicking
[edit]Ian, the 707s were actually rigged for 183 seats, all economy. I think the Roylance figures relate to a two-class set-up.Lexysexy (talk) 23:33, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi there, actually it's Air Force Today (from the mid-90s) that mentioned 160, Roylance didn't say. To be honest I don't mind dropping the figure as we say later on that one of them flew 300 troops in two sorties, which gives a good approximation of its capacity anyway -- the main thing with the recent addition was to reiterate that they carried cargo and 'regular' passengers as well as VIPs. Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 10:24, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
Two extra aircraft
[edit]@Ian Rose: I'm not sure where to best work it into this article so I'll leave it to you, but the government has ordered an extra two KC-30s: [1] [2] (interestingly, they're ex-Qantas aircraft). 05:57, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
- Tks mate. Ex-Qantas, eh? Keeping it in the family... ;-) Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 10:50, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
