The main contributor to this page is called "Yumiko Shunei" so one suspects a conflict of interest. However it is a very nice page and I hope that notability can be established independently.
I have reviewed the available sources via a Google search (97 in all) and conclude that Shunei does not currently fulfill Wikipedia's notability requirements (WP:BIO). The WP article figures prominently on the Web, as are its numerous backlinks. But in terms of independent sources I have found only [1] as a solitary mention of an award by a local art museum, no significant coverage in secondary sources, reviews etc. The artist's biography lists him as faculty at Hiroshima City University and a trustee of Japan Art Institute - he may be notable as an educator, rather than an artist, but I could not find sources that establish notability as a result of these roles either. Did a search and found two solid references, one to his work as a professor, the other to two of his major painting (and the award they received). All the info on the WP page was accurate in regards to these items, so I've removed the conflist of interest and notability tags. I'll leave the ref tag, as more references to specific works are needed. Glad the page was kept long enough to located online references. Nihola (talk) 05:43, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
