{{BLP sources}}
[edit]Please do not re-add this template without identifying what content is unsourced, as I can't see any such content. Phil Bridger (talk) 11:36, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
- Every article on Wikipedia can benefit from more sources, so I'm not getting into a petty argument with you over a template message. At a glance the following things are unsourced or assumed:
- Birth date/Age (unsourced)
- Residence (mentioned but not explicitly stated)
- Religion (assumed, no mention of religion)
- "from Orissa" (assumed, this suggests he was born there - not sourced)
- "former minister of Orissa State" (in fact incorrect, according to the article Niranjan is a relative of J B Patnaik, former chief minister)
- So I think I was correct to place the BLP sources tag on the article. -- Patchy1 23:10, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
- The only non-trivial point, "former minister of Orissa State", is verified in the very first sentence of the source ("former minister Niranjan Patnaik") and reconfirmed in the third ("had to resign from minister's post") and the sixth ("held ministerial berth in the Congress government") paragraphs. Phil Bridger (talk) 23:45, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
- Trivial or not, still unsourced. I may have been unclear when I said "former minister of Orissa State" was incorrect. The way it is worded suggests that he is the Chief Minister. If it said 'minister for' or 'minister of education for' (or similar), then that would suggest he is not the Chief Minister, and the source only says he is a minister, not the Chief. So regardless of whether you took it (in the article) to mean Cheif or not, it is still unclear, thus requiring more sources! -- Patchy1 02:20, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
- Now you're just waffling. Nothing remotely suggests that he was chief minister. Phil Bridger (talk) 09:47, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
- It's not hard to assume from the way it's worded that it does suggest that. I would expect the specific ministerial portfolio to be mentioned, another source would be needed for that, and that would make it clear what he is the minister of. In any case I found it unclear, and I am not stupid, so chances are I am not or will not be the only one who would find it unclear. -- Patchy1 01:03, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
