Lottery

[edit]

The article says that Nipton no longer sells the most California lottery tickets because you can buy them in Primm. But do they sell California lottery tickets in Nevada now? DavidMann (talk) 23:39, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, The lottery tickets are not sold in Primm. There is a driveway leading to a small store just across the border in California. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.154.161.209 (talk) 01:31, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ivanpah Solar Power Facility

[edit]

Given that Nipton is the community where the Ivanpah Solar Power Facility is nearest to, shouldn't there be a brief section mentioning that? Some news articles state that it is in Nipton as it partly is, to my understanding. Redditaddict69 06:42, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

News media works off press releases mostly for things like this. They are taking the address and making it the location, not uncommon in rural areas. It should be covered in the county article, but it has an article of its own that can be linked and is linked here as part of the settlement's locating info. I see no need for anything further. Details on a facility near the community would be off-topic and would dilute the information on the community. John from Idegon (talk) 06:47, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oliver Swanick

[edit]

@KatzuKurry: Hi! Ok, so there is this back and forth about "Oliver Swanick" in the notable residents section. Apparently, Swanick is a fictional character in a video game that is mentioned in the popular culture section. Swanick is not notable enough to merit their own page. There is probably policy somewhere, but the closest I'm seeing is MOS:SEEALSO which says that the see also section should not have red links. I also question whether a fictional character should be under notable residents as they never physically resided. Perhaps a compromise would be to add something about Swanick to the popular culture section if and only if it is supported by a WP:RS.
