Interesting paper on Nippon Steel's systems: Nippon Steel Mathmo Talk 21:54, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very hard to follow

[edit]

The page is very hard to follow.

1. What exactly is the page about? Nippon Steel (pre-merger)? Or Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal (post-merger)? The first paragraph says Nippon Steel is the world's sixth largest producer. Further down it says that the company became / will become (?) the second-largest steel manufacturer in the world.

2. There is a troubling lack of dates and coherence in the article:

- Nippon Steel was created by the merger of two giants, Yawata Iron & Steel (八幡製鉄 Yawata Seitetsu) and Fuji Iron & Steel (富士製鉄 Fuji Seitetsu) -- when?

-Attributing the drop to higher material costs, the company entered into another troubled year -- when?

-The paragraph on environmental record takes us forward to 2005-2006. At the next paragraph on diversification we are back at 1993!

-Following a triple merger of Sumitomo Corporation, Kinzoku Steel Corporation (Sumikin Bussan), and the existing Nippon Steel, NSSC was formed as these company's conglomerate Stainless Steel division -- when?

The whole thing is quite a mess!
