Old national anthem 102.88.68.162 (talk) 18:41, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think the sentence "On 29 May 2024, President Bola Tinubu signed into law a bill reinstating the anthem" should not be on the Lead since we have it on body section, History.

Tinubu signing the the doesn't really matter on the Lead of this article page. He's just an individual not the country itself. wɔːr (talk) 06:24, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ping to @Professor Penguino: wɔːr (talk) 06:25, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping! I personally disagree, because the reinstating of the anthem is relevant to the article. If it were about the new president being elected or something unrelated like that, I would agree; but in this instance it is important. Otherwise, readers have incomplete information. If the lede didn't have the sentence, it would read "Nigeria's former anthem, "Arise, O Compatriots," was adopted in 1978, replacing "Nigeria, We Hail Thee."" It sounds like "Arise, O Compatriots" is the current anthem. I think keeping the sentence is more convenient for casual readers. Thoughts? Professor Penguino (talk) 06:30, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nope. I would rather go for "On 29 May 2024, the anthem was reinstated".
I mean, President Tinubu is not necessary to be mentioned. This is not his article page. wɔːr (talk) 06:53, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see what you mean now. Although I don't think the mention of the president needs to be removed, you can feel free to instate that revision. Professor Penguino (talk) 06:56, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I did a total reform trying to bring clarity. Revision.
I hope this helps wɔːr (talk) 07:08, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dear @Professor Penguino
Kindly check out the latest revision. IMO, it has solved all clarity issues. Thoughts? wɔːr (talk) 08:18, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It looks good! I'm glad we could sort this out. Professor Penguino (talk) 08:19, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
