Butterley or Butterly?

[edit]

There are about 11,000 ghits for Butterley, but over 500,000 for Butterly. And there are 664 ghits that have a bob each way.

I've always seen it with the -ly spelling. -- JackofOz (talk) 06:22, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, this appears to be the work of the composer himself, and it's spelled -ley. Odd. I wonder why there are far more misspelled references than correctly spelled ones. -- JackofOz (talk) 06:32, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've been acquainted with the music of various Australian composers over several decades, and have seen Butterley's name from time to time in different contexts, and it's always spelled "Butterley" - in fact, I've never seen it spelled the other way. If those half-million instances in Google spelled "Butterly" are referring to Nigel Butterley, they are simply wrong. M.J.E. (talk) 19:53, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
