Aachenosaurus
[edit]Because Aachenosaurus is a plant and not a dinosaur, remove Aachenosaurus from the categories "Invalid dinosaurs" and "Nomina dubia".
Yeah, I agree. Paleo Kid (talk) 18:03, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Why? It is an invalid dinosaur, because it was named as a dinosaur and found to be a plant. It is a nomen dubium because it is impossible to tell what species of plant it should be synonymized with. MMartyniuk (talk) 23:49, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
At present Aachenosaurus is presented as an accepted name in the taxon box, with Aachenoxylon as a synonym, however botanists (at least) would consider this the wrong way around, see e.g. Edwards, 1931: https://www.google.com.au/books/edition/Fossilium_Catalogus_II_Plantae_Pars_17_D/C0xOC0jK7qMC?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=Aachenosaurus+Aachenoxylon&pg=PA16&printsec=frontcover and IFPNI: http://ifpni.org/genus.htm?formIndex=def&name=Aachenoxylon&submitForm=Search ... I may come back and fix this later if folk are agreeable (would need a page creating for Aachenoxylon as well)... My guess being that Aachenoxylon being validly published in botany, Aachenosaurus not so (published only as a zoological name). Regards - Tony Rees, IRMNG Tony 1212 (talk) 19:37, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
