Birth date

[edit]

This Chess Life article says he was born on 6 August 1859, but Jeremy Gaige has 17 August 1859 in Chess Personalia. I don't know which is right. Gaige gives as sources American Chess Bulletin, 1914, p. 181 and Deutsche Schachzeitung, 1915, p. 189. The Chess Life Magazine article is excellent and highly recommended. We could significantly expand this article using it, to describe Jasnogrodsky's career as an insurance company executive, his time in Canada, arrest in New York, and time in Indianapolis.
