My apologies to Paul B., but it seems to me that Skeres deserves no less attention than either of the other two at Deptford Strand that day.
Charles Nicholl is really the only good source of information about Skeres, and I'm afraid that Park Honan's characterization of him as "a half-educated thug, often in and out of gaol" is grossly unfair, as I hope the only facts we have about him bear out!
