I'm not sure, but I think Newports are made in 86s and 100s, not 72s and 100s. Someone please verify this or tell me I'm wrong. Menthol Cigarettes 00:50, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Couldn't add in the source but this is good:

Price Jumping

I work at a gas station and I've noticed that Newports, and only Newports, like to Jump their prices every so often before putting em back down.

While I do not contest your assertion, I feel it worth mentioning that here, in Massachusetts, Newports (all varieties) have been one of the few brands to maintain a pricing ($5) for the past 3 years as of mid-2007. Newport has also been one of few brands to offer "Buy Two, Get One" multi-packs. While determining the precise reasons for pricing can be arduous given the various agencies that tax the product, it would appear that Lorrilard is at best reducing their profit to maintain pricing levels and at worst simply not raising the price.

Also, in the section mentioning use among African-Americans, it should be noted that, in popular parlance, Newports are often refered to as "niggerettes". While this particular use of the vernacular may be offensive to some, it should be included for accuracy.

Lastly, my brother (Chester Bombay), in late May of 2007 used the offer of 20 Newport 100's to induce me to assist him in moving his belongings 26 miles due southwest, offering empirical evidence of the allure of the inverse spinnaker on a mint green background.

On the note about niggerettes, I've heard them called nigger breathmints before.--MKnight9989 13:56, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Obama

Which menthol brand does Obama smoke? Ubama (talk) 17:10, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Obama smokes Newports. It's an open secret. Hanxu9 (talk) 08:01, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Since Obama is in denial about stoping smoking, he just bums any brand name menthol (Salem, Kools & Newport) from his staff. Obama Smokes Kools (talk) 03:29, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

When he was talking about quitting in 2007, I read that he smoked Marlboro Reds. ) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.239.30.98 (talk) 04:49, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
