Opening Comments

[edit]

Welcome to the review for "New York State Route 878". I structure my reviews like a trial. My reviews are all about your voice as I will simply post issues and you will do the work solving them. If necessary I will make very minor copy edits to the article if I feel they don't need a whole bullet point dedicated to them. Anyway, I am looking forward to working with you again. AmericanAir88 (talk) 00:27, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@AmericanAir88: Thank you for taking up this review. Have you found any issues yet that I should fix? epicgenius (talk) 17:16, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. I was also snowed in. I look forward to fixing any issues. epicgenius (talk) 23:39, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Issues

[edit]

@Epicgenius: *Tons of Redlinks; Either find a link for them or remove the brackets.

*The second paragraph of the lead has a huge run-on sentence in the beginning, grammar issues, and could use some reworking

    • Done.

*"The 3.73-mile (6.00 km) northwest section in Queens is mostly built to freeway standards" This is a Weasel Word. Two solutions: Either elaborate more on this sentence or find a non-weasel replacement for the word.

*The first paragraph of "Northern segment" can benefit with a copy edit.

    • Done.

*"Between the two halves of NY 878, traffic uses Rockaway Boulevard in Queens and Rockaway Turnpike in Nassau County." Needs rewording.

    • Done.

*"However, only the 1.96-mile (3.15 km) piece from Burnside Avenue in Inwood south to the Atlantic Beach Bridge toll plaza in Lawrence is actually considered NY 878 by NYSDOT the road is county-maintained from Rockaway Turnpike to Burnside Avenue." Good Ideas, sentence needs to be reworked.

    • Done.

*Both the Northern and Southern Segments are full of grammatical errors. Do a sweep.

    • Done.

Excellent work on Predecessors and Planning

*"restarted circa late 1973," I know what circa means but others will not. Its not a well known word.

*Some References have Page Numbers next to the "[]". Incorporate the page numbers into the syntax instead of displaying them on the article by using "page="

@Epicgenius: Just these three issues left.

  • The first paragraph of the lead is confusing and has grammar issues/missing words. Especially "The route exists in two sections, connected to each other by Rockaway Boulevard and Rockaway Turnpike. The combined route's western terminus is the Belt Parkway and Conduit Avenue (NY 27) in Ozone Park, southern Queens, and its southern terminus is Atlantic Beach Bridge in Lawrence, southwestern Nassau County."
  • Construction and Delays needs a grammar sweep. There are small errors
  • "From there to just short of the city line is NY 909G; the last 0.07 miles (0.11 km) are again city-maintained." Not encyclopedic
