Question on County Routes

[edit]

I noticed the junctions listed some county routes. However, there are several other county routes that have junctions with 115. Should we list them as well? Smartyshoe 13:08, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My guess is that the ones that are included were the ones listed in the NYSDOT traffic counts, which is where we derive our mileposts from. My stance is that we shouldn't add any more, but (1) I'm against listing county routes in junction lists in the first place for the most part and (2) county routes are quickly being considered non-notable (see WP:N/HWY). --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 15:50, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, TMF has it correct. The ones I placed (in addition to CR 75) were the ones in the traffic counts listing (which I assume are ones where there is a significant ADT change). --Polaron | Talk 15:54, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Salt Point Turnpike

[edit]

There must be SOME history to the Salt Point Turnpike as a turnpike road. Could someone who knows more about its history expand it? Mbisanz (talk) 04:45, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I live in the area, but no nothing about it as a turnpike. try google.Smartyllama (talk) 16:44, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I live on it and know nothing either. Maybe I'll go to DCC over the break and see if they have anything on it. Mbisanz (talk) 20:57, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Figured since I've been nominating a bunch of GA's recently, I should be doing some more reviewing, so why not something outside of my comfort zone and get into some side action in the world of roads?

  • "Route 115 throughout its length " - I'd put "throughout its length" first. I think it reads better
  • "as part of a maintenance swap" - think there's a better way of putting this?
  • "An intersection with West Maple Street (westbound US 44 and NY 55) soon follows as the route becomes known as Innis Avenue." - does it become "Innis Avenue" at this intersection? Or shortly thereafter? The "soon" and "as" bits make it unclear.
  • "as it parallels CR 72 northeast" - so is it a northeast parallel, like moving away from the route at a 45º angle, or is it moving northeast here? Kinda confused
  • continuing onward to the hamlet" - the "onward" is redundant
  • " and the company was in the New York State Supreme Court" - when? This is interesting!
  • "The stock said " - you just said "over the ownership of stock in construction"- how can "stock" say something? Is it the people with the stock?
  • "wanted the route done on a certain alignment when construction" - grammar could be better
  • "The decision was however, reversed on appeal" - is that? When did the plank road get done? This is important for the article. BTW, were you missing something? Or did you just forget to put a period in?
  • Were there ever any additional changes to the route after it was made in 1980?

All in all, a pretty good article. Just wondering if some history is missing. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 23:40, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, I fixed everything but the year of construction cause I will need to make a ton of emails to get what I want and I'm not even sure if I'll get stuff. Withdrawing, probably for a long long time. Mitch32(New digs, new life, same old stubborn.) 03:55, 18 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
