Merge Discussion

[edit]

Opening the merge discussion- I believe that this article might be notable enough to stand on its own. I say this as there are multiple reliable sources over the years that have been written about just this. The New York City handicap placard issue is a unique one and has been written about in the NY Times and other publications. So, I would like to suggest that the article be allowed to remain. I do think this should probably be merged (and given its own section in the target article, due to the unique case), but in the meantime, I've moved the page from "handicap parking" to "disabled parking", as "handicap" used as an adjective is considered pejorative (and common usage is moving away from using it as a noun, too). See List of disability-related terms with negative connotations for other forms of ableist language and pejorative language surrounding disability issues. --Rahaeli (talk) 21:53, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As a handicap person I do not see anything pejorative of the term handicap parking. Disabled parking is just fine. Regarding the merge, I suggest a small blurb in the larger article, with a link here. Basket of Puppies 22:24, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that there isn't enough here to stand alone. Piratejosh85 (talk) 19:24, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
