The riding of "New Westminster" and "New Westminster City" existed simultaneously from 1871 to 1890. Then "New Westminster was renamed "Westminster", before it was split into Westminster-Chilliwhack, Westminster-Delta, Westminster-Dewdney and Westminster-Richmond. In 1916, New Westminster City was renamed to New Westminster, essentially re-establishing the district. Is it accurate to say this riding has had continous existence from 1871 to 2024 if it had a 26 year hiatus between 1890 and 1916? I guess the main question is: is the most recent "New Westminster" riding from 1916 to 2024 a rename from "New Westminster City", or a re-establishment of the "New Westminster" riding from 1871 to 1890.
