Built in what area?
[edit]- When I-78 was being built in the area, it was decided that part of US 22 would be used for the new highway. What eventually happened was that the eastbound lanes of US 22 became the westbound lanes of the new highway, the eastbound lanes of the new highway were newly constructed, and the westbound lanes of US 22 became NJ 173. US 22 and I-78 were then multiplexed on the new highway.
Umm... does this refer to I-78 between exits 11 and 13? -HiFiGuy 14:06, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
GA Review
[edit]- This review is transcluded from Talk:New Jersey Route 173/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.
This is an interesting, well-written article. I did a bit of copyediting, and a few things came up during the review:
- While I won't hold up the review because there is no map, I would like to see a request placed for a map before the article passes.
- "It is an old section of U.S. Route 22, running 14.62 mi (23.53 km)[1] from Greenwich Township, Warren County, New Jersey, at an intersection with Interstate 78 and U.S. Route 22 to Clinton Township, New Jersey at an intersection with County Route 626 (Beaver Avenue) just east of an interchange with Route 31." - this sentence is too long and confusing
- "concurrent" should be wikilinked in the lead
- "running a farther distance to the north of Interstate 78/U.S. Route 22" - "running a farther distance" is awkward
- "The route continues east to mile marker 11.13, where it splits into a one-way pair with eastbound Route 173 crossing over Interstate 78/U.S. Route 22 and making a left turn to merge onto eastbound Interstate 78/U.S. Route 22 at mile marker 11.70 and westbound Route 173 splitting from Interstate 78/U.S. Route 22 and continuing west 0.55 miles to join back with eastbound Route 173 at mile marker 11.13" - this is too complicated as a single sentence
- "Construction of the portion of Interstate 78 built between Exit 11 (County Route 614) and Exit 13 in Union Township, completed in 1962, involved construction of new eastbound lanes and the conversion of the eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 22 into the westbound lanes of Interstate 78, turning this portion of U.S. Route 22 into a two-lane road" - this might work better as two sentences. Either way, though, "construction involved construction" should be rephrased.
I am placing this nomination on hold to allow for these concerns to be addressed and/or discussed. Any question and/or comments can be left here, as I have placed this page on my watchlist. Best wishes, GaryColemanFan (talk) 22:29, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- I have gone back and made the suggested changes. By the way, I had put a request for a map at Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Maps task force/Requests. Dough4872 (talk) 03:03, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Looks good. The article now meets all of the GA requirements, so I am promoting it. Thanks for your quick response and hard work, GaryColemanFan (talk) 18:26, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
