Copying and pasting over from netball

[edit]

Can some one please help copy and paste the references over from Netball? I did Netball in Europe but the other four regions are not complete. --LauraHale (talk) 06:15, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Malawi image

[edit]

Image gives an idea as to whom plays. Please leave the image there. --LauraHale (talk) 18:24, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The image serves no purpose whatsoever. --Rob (talk) 10:31, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Your opinion. --LauraHale (talk) 10:43, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It has nothing to do with Netball. --Rob (talk) 10:31, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It is an article specifically about netball in Africa. It is in a section about Malawi. The image gives an idea as whom plays. The image is described by the photographer of being of a netball team. There is no reason to doubt the credibility of the author's description. --LauraHale (talk) 10:43, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There's no net, there's no ball, there's no netball, no sport, no uniform, no clothing suitable for playing, no indication of a netball related event. --Rob (talk) 10:31, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This is the best illustrative image we have for non-national netball team netball in Malawi. Help find another image that is illustrative and we can replace it. We're having that exact conversation over on Talk:Netball. Do you have an alternative image that can help give any perspective on netball in Malawi? Can you please contact people on Flickr who have images that would be more representative of netball in Malawi and ask them to please change their licenses so we can use them? If you can help be pro-active with this, we can come to a solution that makes us both happy. I'd love to work with you so that we can improve the image in this section but edit warring over the inclusion of this image won't solve anything other than get one or both of us blocked. Please help find a better picture that doesn't involve the national team that helps illustrate the Malawi netball community in some way. I'm 100% fine with the image not being used if there is an alternative. That is the consensus that we've pretty much reached on Talk:Netball. Can you please help us resolve this by finding an alternative, properly licensed image? --LauraHale (talk) 10:43, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

At best, it illustrates what some women in Malawai look like, which isn't the topic of the article. This has been explained at Talk:Netball. Perhaps we should also use the image to illustrate eating, drinking, walking, sleeping, or a million other things they're not doing in the picture, but certainly do other times. Using an image to illustrate an activity not present in the image, is beyond absurd. --Rob (talk) 10:31, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop refactoring my comments, it's annoying. I've asked you not to do it before. There are already multiple editors asking the same FlickR users to re-license their image. More people bugging them with extra messages won't help. Also, this article does already have a suitable image, which illustrates what's necessary. I do not believe it necessary to have a picture for every country in Africa. If there were no pictures, I still wouldn't have an irrelevant image. Why is there is this obsession with showing a picture for every single country? Pictures should support the textual content of the article. Having a per-county image, to show what players in each country look like, goes well beyond any textual content. Even if we had pictures of actual play in ever single country in Africa, it would be absurd to use all of them. Anyway, there hasn't yet been a consensus either way. It's been removed from Netball by another user, and I think it should be removed for the same reason here. --Rob (talk) 14:46, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
