– per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. The television personality and partner of Colin Kaepernick is the primary topic for the term Nessa.
According to page views[[1]]:

The primary topic is clearly the television personality from the page views above, and that subject should be at the dab name, Nessa. CookieMonster755 𝚨-𝛀 20:32, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Birth year

[edit]

I reverted back to 1981 as all the sources I can find show 1981 as her birth year. If someone has a reliable source that says other wise they should post here before changing please. ContentEditman (talk) 18:12, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I know we cannot use the subject themselves as verification of the YOB, but it is 1984 according to them. Unfortunately sources seem pretty slim either way (1981 or 1984). I think the only thing we can definitely say (based on [1]) is that she was born on 6 May. I'll put a separate section below so that a list of sources can be provided that might be usable to show this date. Primefac (talk) 17:45, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]
  • Gives date of 6 May[1]
  • (blacklisted source) Gives 1983 or 1984 (age 40–41) [2] http://www.just jared.com/2019/05/06/colin-kaepernick-girlfriend-nessa-are-a-golden-duo-at-met-gala-2019/
  • Gives 1984 or 1985 (age 39–40)[3]
  • (copied from Wikipedia) Gives (1981-05-06) May 6, 1981 (age 43)[4]

In my opinion, we can clearly strike the Earn the Necklace article since it copies from us. That leaves a range of somewhere between 1983-1985, and since the common number there is 1984 we might as well use that. This does fall somewhat into the "OR" category since I'm basing the actual number on a private communication with the subject themselves, so if we cannot find any better sources it might just be best to leave out the birthdate alltogether. But even striking the blacklisted source, there's a compelling argument for using 1984. Primefac (talk) 17:45, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reference 1 I do not see a date or age given. R2 does not say when they were that age or how they came to say its correct. R3 is like R2, just gives a number without a date or how they came to that age. R4 clearly says the date of birth, 1981.
All of these also say the date of birth as 1981.

[5] [6] [7] [8] [9]

May 6, 1981 is the only date that has multiply references, there are more but I think the 6 above are enough, and should be the added back. ContentEditman (talk) 23:43, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You've got to be kidding me.
  • Reference #1, published May 7, "Celebtrated my birthday yesterday". As I said, it doesn't give the year, but gives the date, which leads us to:
  • Reference #3, published 6 May 2019, "the 35-year-old radio and TV personality" - gives an age at a certain point, which is why I used {{birth based on age as of date|30|2015|4|26}} to get 1984 or 1985 (age 39–40). Same thing for Ref2 (published in 2019, "age 35"). Ref3 was published on her birthday, and Ref2 was published before her birthday, so 1984 works based on Ref1
  • Reference 4 clearly states the date of birth, but it is copied from Wikipedia, which means we cannot use it!!!!!
  • Reference 6 is unreliable per two separate WP:RSN discussions ([[1, [[2
  • Reference 7 is unreliable per its own Disclaimer.
  • Reference 8 is unreliable because it's a wiki; it might as well be a mirror because every "link" on the page links to Wikipedia
  • Reference 9 is very likely unreliable because it appears to be the work of a single person
You have no reliable sources, and I have two reliable ones (R1 and R3). I will admit, based on RSN JustJared isn't reliable, so we can't really use that, but neither can we use any of yours, which leaves us sitting around the 1984 line again. Primefac (talk) 00:26, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What? R1 - Instagram is not even close to a RS, let alone I see no age on the page or sourcing for age. R2 - Is not a RS, its even a blacklisted site at Wikipedia, how is that even close to a RS? R3 is like 1 and 2, violates WP:OR as you are inferring a date of birth where one is not given. Your reason for dismissing ALL the other references, minus number 5 I did not see anything for its lack of usage, are more self-biased and self dismissive. ContentEditman (talk) 01:08, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You need to read up on your policies then. Primary sources such as a verified account are perfectly acceptable for verifying personal information such as a DOB. Also, we have a template for when they give an age and a publishing date, of course it's an acceptable way of estimating a year of birth! As I said, Ref3 isn't reliable, but I really doubt Ref5 is either. Primefac (talk) 02:00, 17 June 2019 (UTC) I mixed up my R2/R3 but it's been fixed now[reply]
Then please show me the policy that says Instagram is a RS. Let alone your violation of WP:OR. You have also not shown any real reference that says 1983/4/5 is her birth date. Yet there are dozens of references that show 1981 and even you can't dismiss all of them. So do you have anything that shows 1981 should not be added? ContentEditman (talk) 00:19, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
WP:SELFPUB says that one can use social media from certified accounts to verify facts about the subject. I am in discussion with said subject, which is why I know that I am correct and that you are not. However, because there are no RS that specifically nail down the year of birth, I removed the content until that information can be found. Primefac (talk) 20:40, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Then you should not be editing, let alone removing referenced information, this article at all since you now admit you are a biased editor. Let alone you may want to read WP:SELFPUB again. It clearly says the material must not be neither unduly self-serving; actress's have been known to lie about age and even sued sites to block their real dates for their own self-serving purposes. There is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity; this also plays into number 1 and there are a sizeable number of references that show 1981 as her birth year. The article is not based primarily on such sources; so if the only source is herself then again that would violate that rule but also go against the many other references that show 1981. So again why have you removed well referenced information with no support and now a known bias at play? ContentEditman (talk) 01:28, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure how dealing with an OTRS ticket makes me biased, it's part of "the job". We regularly take personal requests over "what's found online"; see discussions at Talk:CCH Pounder and Talk:T.J. Miller for examples of when we've used Twitter/interviews to override our own MOS. Primefac (talk) 13:37, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You still have not show any references or support for the 1983/4/5 birth year. And even your usage of WP:SELFPUB shows you would be violating that as well. Do you have anything that is truly verifiable that shows 1981 is not correct? ContentEditman (talk) 19:07, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
ticket:2019050810009227, plus reference #3. Primefac (talk) 19:17, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As said before there is no birth year on that page at all. They only give an age but not how they came to that number or when. I have given over half a dozen references that show 1981 as birth year. So again, do you have anything that shows 1983/4/5 birth year that would supersede 1981? ContentEditman (talk) 19:29, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You've got to be kidding me. If I said "I'm 49 years old" and it's June 2019, you can very easily determine that I was born in either 1969 or 1970. Similarly, if an article says she's 30 years old in May 2015, we can very easily calculate that she was born in either 1984 or 1985. This is not OR, it is a simple calculation, and the fact that we have {{birth based on age as of date}} means that this is a perfectly acceptable way of estimating birth years when all an articles gives us is the age and published date. Primefac (talk) 13:19, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
At the end of the day, though, we just don't have any RS that giver her DOB. It's best to leave it out until such time there is one. Primefac (talk) 14:15, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes we do have reliable sources, they just do not say what you want them to say and have shown as much. Also you are doing original research by assuming the dates on the story match up and or were done at the same time posted. Let alone do not say what dates match up to when, again you are assuming and adding your own opinion to it. ContentEditman (talk) 00:59, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Family

[edit]

Genuinely curious, DJJayplus, but what's with the edit warring about her family? Primefac (talk) 01:15, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Primefac the source article about her parents has been revised as both her parents are Egyptian.
