[edit]

Neko Case is a lovely and enigmatic performer. It's remarkable how true her voice is to the recordings which is a testament to her singing as well as her recording skills. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.165.200.69 (talkcontribs) 06:48, 12 June 2005

Orgin????

[edit]

What the hell does "origin" mean? Is she a superhero? Is this where she got her powers? What about how? I mean seriously...

I notice it's on other pages, but I'm not sure what it means. Gord Downie is listed as an "origin" of Kingston, but I mean...the band still works there.

Neko now lives outside Montpellier, Vermont so isn't this where she's originating from? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.180.71.193 (talk) 17:52, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Featured article status?

[edit]

Anyone else feel like trying to polish this into featured article status? Anyone have any suggestions about what we'd need to do to get it there? -- Scarequotes 16:15, August 16, 2005 (UTC)

Someone should address the fact that she has filmed at least one video--- "Timber" off of her debut CD. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.198.19.60 (talkcontribs) 23:53, 21 January 2006

Question

[edit]

Since I've never heard her name said out loud, and it's been bugging me: How the heck do you pronounce her first name? Since I'm into Japanese things, I'm wanting to pronounce it like the Japanese word for cat, kinda rhymes with "wreck-o"; but I can see how it might be pronounced more like "knee-koh" as well. But there could be some other way I'm not thinking of.

Incidentally, the name thing makes me get her confused with Cat Power (though I like what I have heard of both) Kyou 07:45, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NEE-koh. At least, that's the way her bandmates and radio djs pronounce it, so I assume it's right. (And the other name she gets confused with is Nikka Costa.) -- Scarequotes 17:50, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Kyou 21:30, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Strangely enough, Cat Power was on The Late Show with David Letterman last night. At the end of the show, he stated that Neko would be on the next night. He pronounced it like "knee"-"ko". It'll be interesting to see if he pronounces it that way tonight. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.25.13.246 (talkcontribs) 05:43, 15 June 2006

Grant Lawrence of CBC Radio 3 pronounced it "NEE-ko" on the weekly podcast show. 207.171.180.101 22:50, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Neko covering Scott Walker

[edit]

"Duchess" on The Virginian is an old Scott Walker song. But that doesn't mean I think he should be added to the second paragraph. That list is already long enough, I think. -Veronique 21:19, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. That list is supposed to be a short sampling, not a complete list of everyone she's covered. -- Scarequotes 22:31, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Neko as Canadian?

[edit]

Despite there being no reference which shows that US news consider Case a 'Canadian musician, it is irrelevant considering that in most interviews with Case she calls Tacoma Washington her 'home town', and she currently resides in New York. So basically, because Neko Case went to college in Vancouver we are calling her a signifigant figure in Canadian music? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.183.113.31 (talk) 03:28, 6 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Move info to album pages?

[edit]

Should a LOT of the information on this page be moved to the individual Wikipedia pages on the albums? Some album pages such as the one for "Blacklisted" have very little data. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.25.13.246 (talkcontribs) 01:55, 8 February 2007

I think so. Add my vote. 72.69.101.250 14:36, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Crack-whore

[edit]

Why was my edit that Neko Case's parents wanted her to become a crack-whore removed? My source is Neko Case herself on her biography on her webpage:

"My parents very much wanted me to become a crack-whore, but I gravely disappointed them by graduating from college. Though they did not notice until years after the event, they still take my failings personally."

It's a bit heavy on the irony, you can see how someone would think that's vandalism. Also the way it's worded right now seems strange. It's obviously a feciscious comment, but when put in the context of this article it does not come across with the same humor. Lil' Dice (yeah, I said it!) - talk 20:25, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"Feciscious is hardcore not a word, just saying. It's "facetious." And I think it should be put in to showcase Case's humor.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.22.109.250 (talkcontribs) 14:54, 7 August 2007
Showcasing someone's humor with examples of jokes they have told is not particularly encyclopedic, especially when the article subject is notable for music, not humor. Leave it out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.73.139.54 (talk) 14:27, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What type of guitar?

[edit]

Does she only play the 4-string tenor guitar, or does she also play 6-string guitar? Badagnani (talk) 05:02, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have seen her play a six-string acoustic guitar in concert. --anon.70.23.178.7 (talk) 07:04, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cub isn't punk?

[edit]

The article says "All of these bands were local punk groups except for Cub and The Weasles". I haven't heard The Weasles, but Cub is definitely punk.

Deepcloud (talk) 01:07, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A rather large gap?

[edit]

So Case left home at 15 (in 1985 or 1986, presumably). Then our next reference to her is entering art school in 1994. What did she do in the meanwhile? john k (talk) 04:25, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Neko Case timeline

[edit]

In case anyone has the motivation to clean up and make this article good, check this out Neko Case Timeline --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 22:44, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I've been toying with trying to integrate this great timeline into her page as a lot of the information is interesting and that is a great source. There are a lot of legacy/older sources from when she was on Bloodshot that I had posted to a Bloodshot yahoogroup I started. But both would be a lot of work. Although much improved from what it was, Neko's page is still sort of a mess, so making it cleaner / better / more organized is going to be a bit of heavy lifting....BrillLyle (talk) 20:37, 23 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

neko = Cat

[edit]

Why does she have an Japanese Name? --Baruch ben Alexander - ☠☢☣ 21:29, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's not. The resemblance to the Japanese word is coincidental. Kenji Yamada (talk) 09:43, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New Single

[edit]

Neko Case recorded a song entitled Nothing to Remember. It was included in the album The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond. The album was internationally released on March 20,2012. Nothing to Remember is 9th among the 16 tracks included in the album. It is preceded by Run Daddy Run by Miranda Lambert featuring Pistol Annies and succeeded by Dark Days by Punch Brothers. It's official duration is 2:59. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.211.171.84 (talk) 17:28, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nights On Broadway

[edit]

Under the section on radio appearances, the article says she performed ABBA's "Nights On Broadway". That song was by the Bee Gees, not ABBA.
