New Pictures
[edit]I have added some new images which match the parallel text. They include a poster for a 1920s jazz opera and a photo of the Nazi minister Frick, who banned jazz in Germany! 109.151.231.126 (talk) 16:00, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
Article scope
[edit]This article seems to completely miss any awareness of the fact that (american) Jazz music was played on Wehrmacht radio stations to entertain soldiers, or that the Nazis had an official Swing big band (Charlie and his Orchestra) used for foreign propaganda purposes, which is quite well documented. The concentration camp band Ghetto Swingers which was used for propaganda purposes as well doesn't appear either.
Necessary background, like the fact that jazz was extremely popular during the Weimar republic, and that black american musicians toured Germany and (reportedly) faced less discrimination than in the US is missing as well, the article starts with the negative reaction some right-wing politicians had in the late 20s, but that isn't representative of its broader popularity at the time. Some of the articles even mention that several top Nazis were secret jazz fans, without naming anyone specific, though considering Hitler loved Disney movies and once got a box set of them as a birthday gift by Goebbels it doesn't seem far-fetched.
