Reminder: This is a living person
[edit]@Battlecrow and Tertel: Please remember that this person is still alive, Wikipedia's policy regarding living persons applies (see Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons). In particular, all negative information must be sourced from reliable sources, preferably independent of the subject.
As with any article, any information whose truth and accuracy will not be accepted at face value must be sourced from a reliable source. Information which casts the person in a positive light should be from an independent, reliable source.
All Wikipedia articles should have a "neutral" point of view (see WP:NPOV). Note that "neutral" doesn't mean "neither negative nor positive" but rather "mirroring the view the world has of this person" in terms of the well-known positive and negative aspects of this person's life.
Tertel: As you appear to have a conflict of interest regarding this subject, please make sure any direct edits you make are specifically allowed under Wikipedia's Conflict of Interest guideline (see WP:COI). This includes removing un-referenced negative material and negative material referenced from non-reliable sources. It does not include removing negative material referenced from reliable sources unless the source has been retracted or is obviously in need of retraction. For example, if the New York Times said something that was contradicted by later news reports from other reliable sources, it's safe to assume that the Times would make a retraction if it was brought to their attention. There's no need to wait for the retraction to remove the material, BUT you should include the newer reliable source in the edit summary or in an intermediate edit, so it's clear WHY the removal is justified under the conflict of interest guidelines). If you wish to make any other changes to the article beyond those allowed by the COI guideline, please recommend them here first. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 18:41, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
Appreciate Upholding Standards
[edit]I appreciate Wikipedia so much for upholding journalistic and scholarly ethics. I appreciate that you have to submit credible references to back up your comments and I hope that this "edit war" will be able to be brought to an end with credible sources coming to light. Especially the Inside Higher Ed article which brings a lot of research to light. http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2014/02/07/former-president-takes-heat-dire-financial-straits-sofia-university — Preceding unsigned comment added by Battlecrow (talk • contribs) 21:26, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
Please use reliable, independent sources
[edit]This article needs some major attention. Some of its sources are press releases, blogs, and other sources which are either not reliable sources in the Wikipedia sense of the word, or they are not independent enough of the subject to be suitable except in certain narrow circumstances.
I just removed several instances where a Wikipedia article was used as a source. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 22:27, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

re: User:Mosfetfaser deleting my edit:
King himself has written on his wikipedia article that "He was born January 3, 1947 in Cocoa Beach, Florida on what was then Banana River Naval Station and today is Cape Canaveral."

I can't find any other sources that say his date or place of birth. I'm looking.
