I removed the references to numbers of stars for admirals and commodores, because it's US-centric (most armed forces don't use stars as insignia for these ranks, despite the article's previous assertion to the contrary) and the OF-# codes provide enough information anyway. --Foodman 13:39, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Actually, most countries shoulderboards for navy admirals use some pattern of stars - differing mainly in number of points and arrangement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.63.63.94 (talk) 13:48, 14 June 2005 (UTC)
How do you not understand that you can not compare the ranks of one country with another on the positions only. The Eremeev code is equal to one post, which in a greater part has a certain title in one country to a post that has a certain rank in another country, but not the rank to the rank. And even for Israel, correct: their gene-lieutenant based on Eremeev http://armor.kiev.ua/army/titul/izrail.shtml under the code '17' and then the gene is equal. Ancient Military Ranks

The classification of old German ranks is wrong! The ranks equal to their respective translation in other languages. Even if there was no Flottillenadmiral in Imperial Navy, there were two classes of Kapitän zur See. The senior one was as Kommodore an rank of admiralty. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.177.176.221 (talk) 16:51, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Bruneian, Indonesian, Malaysian admirals

once again,

In the Malaysian and Indonesian navies, the rank laksamana is a '4 star rank'. In theory, it should be available in the Royal Brunei Navy, although none has been conferred..

The equivalent '5 star rank' in the Royal Malaysian Navy is 'Laksamana Armada' which means 'Admiral of the Fleet', and has only been conferred to members of the royal families..

The 'five star rank' in the Indonesian Navy, is 'Laksamana Besar' which means 'Grand Admiral'

in addition, the navy chiefs of Indonesian and Malaysian navies hold a 4 star rank, while the Royal Bruneian Navy Chief hold the rank of kolonel (laut) = colonel (navy).. the Sultan of Brunei himself wears a 5 star insignia.. it is believed that this is the rank of Laksamana Armada similar the ones worn by Malaysian sultans.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.50.226.111 (talk) 14:28, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

US Officer Ranks

It seems that for the United States Navy, this is 1 pay grade off. Ensigns and Lieutenant Junior Grades are seperate ranks with seperate pay rates. This would make a captain an 06 instead of an O5. And flag rank starts at 07 going through 011. This can be found at http://www.navy.mil/navydata/navy_legacy_hr.asp?id=266 Carloak (talk) 23:37, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Romanian Navy ranks

I've notest that in the section called "Other officers" it is said that "Captain" rank in Singapore Navy is the same as the one in the Armed Forces. Is not the only exception, the Romanian Navy rank of "Captain" (OF-2) is in the same situation, here are the Romanian Armed Forces ranks http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Romanian_Armed_Forces_ranks_and_insignia , please add the RoNavy ones also in the tables.

— Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.77.60.78 (talk) 01:37, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
