Redundancy

[edit]

@Atakes Ris: Since the navbox and the sidebar are different visual presentations of the same information, including both in an article seems redundant. My preference is to keep the navbox, and remove the sidebar. I don't know if there is any consensus among editors regarding the use of these templates. Wikipedia:Navigation template indicates that sidebars generally have fewer links, which is not true for discrimination. Visually, a sidebar with many links in more intrusive. True. But I've seen other articles with both so I'm also unsure as to that, my belief is that having both would save the need to scroll back up if someone is looking for further articles. Atakes Ris (talk) 03:30, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of off-topic material

[edit]

This article has always been prone to bloat, so any text should add to the overall topic. The Atlanta Braves being the Atlanta Bees for four years does not pass this test, since the cited reference is clear that this was purely an attempt at rebranding the team which had nothing to do with Native Americans. While I was at it, I removed the mention of the Rome Braves becoming the Rome Penguins, which I likely added myself when it occurred years ago. This was also a marketing decision to have a name with closer association to the city. Such details belong in related articles, and the "Bees" is mentioned in the main article on the Braves. I think the Bees is not relevant here, but we can keep the part about the Emperors. -TenorTwelve (talk) 18:39, 5 February 2025 (UTC) TenorTwelve (talk) 18:39, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This would be true if the Penguins change was done to divorce the local team from the controversy that is the topic of this article; but that is not what the cited source states. WriterArtistDC (talk) 21:44, 5 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
