Merger proposal

The result of this discussion was to merge. RM2KX (talk) 21:08, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please discuss at Talk:Liberty Memorial#Merger proposal.
I propose that this article be merged into Liberty Memorial. The Liberty Memorial has, since 1926, contained the museum in question. Congressional action in 2012 merely allowed the memorial shaft and museum to use the title "National World War I Museum and Memorial". Since Liberty Memorial is the far more established name, I would keep that page, and use the current article as a redirect. - Tim1965 (talk) 21:12, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Note after merge

[edit]

I am seeking feedback on the footnote I created under Design when doing the recent merge, regarding the architect dispute. It seemed to me to be a bit of a digression, but I didn't want to exclude the information from the merge. RM2KX (talk) 16:01, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox image

[edit]

The infobox image seems really really blurry but when I clicked on it in large size it looked fine. Could anything be done to fix that?★Trekker (talk) 12:07, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I increased its size, but does the top of the article look awkward now? The only other option, I think, is getting a smaller high-resolution image, because it blurs during compression. RM2KX (talk) 13:04, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I feel like getting another image might be the only option. It still looks really weird. :-/ ★Trekker (talk) 13:25, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see anything blurry. It might be an issue with your local cache, *Treker. Try to purge yours. Technical issues aside, I'm rarely a fan of overriding the default pixel size for images in infoboxes and thumbnails. What's the reason to do so here? – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 12:38, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I purged it and it still looks really blurry to me. I agree that changing the pixel number in the infobox is not a great idea since there doesn't seem to be any improvement for me, and since I'm the one complains i guess I should just accept it for now. Doesn't seem to be anything to do about it.★Trekker (talk) 12:58, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed it too, and agree the image should be its original size. I'm going to see if I can find a high-res smaller image, because clearing my cache didn't work for me. RM2KX (talk) 16:46, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Help with a change?

[edit]

Friends, hoping you might help a GLAM gal out. Seems we've got a simple attribution. "and the walls of the first floor lobby are finished in Kasota stone,[25] which was quarried in Kasota, Minnesota. The first floor corridor and the grand stairway are finished in travertine that was imported from Italy.[25]" The tower (and its interior) are made up of the Indiana limestone referenced in Cydney Milstein's exhaustive piece : http://www.ahr-kc.com/reports/liberty_memorial/ The Kasota stone and travertine were used with the addition in early 2000. You can see the light/black tile combo in this (not great) picture. https://www.facebook.com/theworldwar/photos/a.10154640524641241.1073741872.149455476240/10154640545356241/?type=3&theater Also, an interesting side article on cleaning here: https://greenpiece1.wordpress.com/category/masonry-restoration/ if anyone's got a deep interest in stone work.

History

[edit]

Harry Truman was president until 1953, not 1952. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1:D71C:2129:0:57:21AA:2901 (talk) 01:05, 10 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dedications

[edit]
Under the Dedications section, Harry S. Truman did not serve until 1952, but until January 20, 1953. I will correct. You are welcome. L. Thomas W. (talk) 00:20, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
